Enhanced characterization of wheat straw-PLA composites with silane coupling agent and alkali pretreatment by Zhonghua Yang, Kangjie Sun

    Published 2025-01-01
“…In this study, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze the microscopic structure of wheat straw chemically modified by NaOH and the silane coupling agent, and it was concluded that both treatments effectively removed waxes and silica from the surface of the straw, enhanced fiber roughness, and improved interfacial adhesion. Notably, the silane coupling agent treatment not only facilitated the formation of chemical bonds between the straw fibers and the PLA matrix but also filled the interfiber pores, significantly increasing the structural density. …”

Astrocyte-Secreted Matricellular Proteins in CNS Remodelling during Development and Disease by Emma V. Jones, David S. Bouvier

    Published 2014-01-01
“…Matricellular proteins are secreted, nonstructural proteins that regulate the extracellular matrix (ECM) and interactions between cells through modulation of growth factor signaling, cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation. Despite being well described in the context of nonneuronal tissues, recent studies have revealed that these molecules may also play instrumental roles in central nervous system (CNS) development and diseases. …”

Identification of a guanine nucleotide exchange factor for Arf3, the yeast orthologue of mammalian Arf6. by Alison K Gillingham, Sean Munro

    Published 2007-09-01
“…One of the most well characterised of these G proteins is mammalian Arf6, a protein that participates in many cellular processes including endocytosis, actin remodelling and cell adhesion. Exchange of GDP for GTP on Arf6 is performed by a variety of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs), principally of the cytohesin (PSCD) and EFA6 (PSD) families. …”

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was performed to validate the expression of the selected genes. Results Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C (PTPRC), intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM1), interleukin 10 receptor alpha (IL10RA) and CC chemokine receptor 2 (CCR2) were identified as the potential common genes for kidney fibrosis in different types of CKD, while peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARA), lactate oxidase (LOX), secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) were identified as the specific fibrosis-associated genes for DN, IgAN and MN respectively. qRT-PCR demonstrated that the expression levels of these selected genes were consistent with the NanoString analysis. Conclusions There were both commonalities and differences in the mechanisms of fibrosis in different types of CKD, the commonalities might be used as the common therapeutic targets for kidney fibrosis in CKD, while the differences might be used as the diagnostic markers for DN, IgAN and MN respectively. …”
