Are you understanding what I am saying? The critical importance of communication competency in epidemiology
Published 2025-01-01“…We also describe what a communication-focused curriculum might look like, given that communication skills cannot be learned solely through traditional coursework. Lastly, we address barriers that have prevented communication skills from being meaningfully incorporated in epidemiology curricula.…”

The role of neurotrophic factors in retinal ganglion cell resiliency
Published 2025-01-01“…The death of RGCs in either case will irreversibly cause loss of vision, as RGCs are the sole output neurons of the retina. RGC neurodegeneration affects certain neurons preferentially, resulting in subpopulations of resilient and susceptible cells. …”

Optimal Scheme for Process Quality and Cost Control by Integrating a Continuous Sampling Plan and the Process Yield Index
Published 2018-01-01“…The four parameters (clearance number, inspecting fraction, sample size, and critical value) are designed in the proposed scheme under simultaneously considering the quality and cost constraints. The sole feasible inspection scheme in CSP-1 under the two constraints is found and used for controlling the process quality. …”

MVSGS: Gaussian splatting radiation field enhancement using multi-view stereo
Published 2024-12-01“…However, achieving high-fidelity reconstruction of complex scenes and capturing low-frequency features remain long-standing challenges in the field of visual 3D reconstruction. Relying solely on sparse point inputs and simple optimization criteria often leads to non-robust reconstructions of the radiance field, with reconstruction quality heavily dependent on the proper initialization of inputs. …”

Incompletely closed HIV-1CH040 envelope glycoproteins resist broadly neutralizing antibodies while mediating efficient HIV-1 entry
Published 2025-01-01“…Abstract HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (Envs) mediate viral entry and are sole target of neutralizing antibodies. Thus, HIV-1 Envs must maintain a delicate balance between evading neutralizing antibodies while still preserving viral compatibility to mediate entry into target cells. …”

An atlas of metabolites driving chemotaxis in prokaryotes
Published 2025-02-01“…Our analysis reveals that (i) not all chemical classes trigger chemotaxis equally, in particular, amino acids and benzenoids are much stronger attractants than carbohydrates; (ii) over one-quarter of attractants tested are not used for growth but solely act as chemotactic signals; (iii) the prokaryote’s origin matters, as terrestrial strains respond to 50% more chemicals than those originating from human or marine biomes; (iv) repellents affect cell behaviour at concentrations 10-fold higher than attractants; (v) the effect of large molecules and the behaviour of bacteria other than Proteobacteria have been largely overlooked. …”
