Prediction of Outcomes in Sports Under Probability in Kigezi Region. by Masereka, Jairus

    Published 2024
“…If these conditions are true, then k is a Poisson random variable, and the distribution of k is a Poisson distribution. The Poisson distribution is also the limit of a binomial distribution, for which the probability of success for each trial equals λ divided by the number of trials, as the number of trials approaches infinity. …”

Approximation of the semi-infinite interval by A. McD. Mercer

    Published 1980-01-01
“…Szasz has shown that there are analogous approximations on the interval [0,∞) based on the Poisson distribution. Recently R. Mohapatra has generalized Szasz' result to the case in which the approximating function is αe−ux∑k=N∞(ux)kα+β−1Γ(kα+β)f(kαu)The present note shows that these results are special cases of a Tauberian theorem for certain infinite series having positive coefficients.…”

Degree distribution optimization for LT codes and its application in link maintenance of cognitive radio by Benshun YI, Weiqing YAO

    Published 2018-04-01
“…The degree distribution has a great influence on the performance of Luby transform (LT) codes.Based on the link maintain model of cognitive radio system, the novel degree distribution of LT codes was obtained by using the THOA (two-layer hierarchical optimization algorithm) to combine the IPD (improved poisson distribution) which achieved high decoding success rate with low overhead and the robust soliton distribution (RSD) which achieved high decoding success rate with high overhead.Simulation results show that the proposed method with application to link maintenance in cognitive radio system can improve the reliability and efficiency of secondary communication.…”

Analysis of time delay jitter of communication system on fault location of power line based on traveling wave method by Mingzhen LI, Jianming LIU, Hang WANG, Wenjun ZHOU

    Published 2018-03-01
“…In order to study the time delay jitter of communication system on fault location of power line,a mathematical model of the delay jitter based on Poisson distribution was presented. The characteristic of the random delay jitter for single and multiple node cases were analyzed. Results show the delay jitter is remarkable when the communication load is high, and is insensitive when the communication load is low in the single node case. The total delay jitter is lower than the sum of the jitter in the queues on a path, and the position of the heavy load node in the path has a large influence on the total path jitter. The delay jitter with its influencing factors should be taken into account to perform optimal network design.…”

Blind detection for image steganography using short du ate codes statistical model for Hilbert scanning sequences by Shang-ping ZHONG, Qiao-fen XU, Wen-zhong GUO, Bin LIAO

    Published 2013-01-01
“…By analyzing and proving the correlation between the detection capability of a short duplicate code statistical feature and the probability of cumulating short duplicate codes、the dimension of short duplicate codes,a method to improving the detection capability of a short duplicate code statistical feature was found. Then,a blind detection method for image steganography using short duplicate codes statistical model for Hilbert scanning sequences was proposed. The proposed method used Poisson distribution test to detect the stego-message based on the statistical feature of short duplicate code with same elements in LSB Hilbert scanning sequences. So,the proposed method could make full use of Hilbert curve to maintain the good properties of local correlation, and could not only use the correlation of adjacent elements, but also use the correlation of elements in local regions.Theoretical lysis and experiments show that the proposed method can effectively improve the detection rate under the condition of effectively controlling the false alarm rate.…”
