The Effect of Land-Use Intensity on Surface Temperature in the Dongting Lake Area, China by Wenmin Hu, Weijun Zhou, Hongshi He

    Published 2015-01-01
“…The relationships between observed rapid changes in land use and temperature in the Dongting Lake area from 2001 to 2010 were examined. The results revealed the following features: (1) The temperature increased when the land-use intensity increased via a hierarchical transition owing to grass and forest land reductions of 26.25% and 11.74%, respectively; built-up land increased by 48.45%. (2) The temperature increase was driven more by the external environment than by land-use intensity changes. …”

Effect of Different Static Load Test Methods on the Performance of Combined Post-Grouted Piles: A Case Study in the Dongting Lake Area by Yu Du, Kai Qi, Run-Ze Zhang, Feng Zhou, Zhi-Hui Wan

    Published 2025-01-01
“…To investigate the effect of combined end-and-shaft post-grouting on the vertical load-bearing performance of bridge-bored piles in the Dongting Lake area of Hunan, two post-grouted piles were subjected to bi-directional O-cell and top-down load tests before and after combined end-and-shaft grouting, based on the Wushi to Yiyang Expressway project. …”

Optimization of land use structure integrating ecosystem service function and economic development—A case study in Dongting Lake Ecological and Economic Zone, China by Yifan Zhu, Min Zhou

    Published 2025-06-01
“…The modeling results show that the economic benefits of the optimized Dongting Lake Eco-Economic Zone range between [15622.72 × 108,19150.50 × 108] CNY, and the optimized areas of farmland, woodland, grassland, water area, construction land, and unutilized land are[25686.99,25932.61]km2, [22093.37,22295.23]km2,[837.11108,841.41]km2,[7536.86,7767.01]km2,[2660.92,2987.49]km2,[1090.72,1116.36]km2.and the ecosystem service function, pollutant emission level and ecosystem service value of the optimized Dongting Lake Eco-Economic Zone in the optimization scenario, which guarantees higher economic benefits than the status quo scenario, show a better performance than the status quo scenario as a whole. …”

<i>Broussonetia papyrifera</i> Extract Can Be Used as a Raw Material Source for a Sterility Agent for <i>Microtus fortis</i> by Shuangye Wang, Tian Lan, Yunlin Zhao, Wanfu Liu, Tian Huang, Meiwen Zhang, Zhiyuan Hu, Zhenggang Xu

    Published 2025-01-01
“…<i>Broussonetia papyrifera</i> is a plant material that has shown the potential to inhibit the reproduction of <i>Microtus fortis</i>, a species that causes serious damage to crops in the Dongting Lake region in China. <i>M. fortis</i> was treated with different doses of <i>B. papyrifera</i> leaf methanol extracts. …”

Ecological risks in downstream lakes exacerbated by the three Gorges reservoir by Xinxin Chen, Yaxin Guo, Junhong Zhang, Xiao Han, Weiya Huang, Yao Yue

    Published 2025-01-01
“…The results showed that (1) TGD storage led to a decrease in the number of high pulses at downstream stations, resulting in wetland degradation in the riverine region; (2) the SI (Shannon’s diversity index) based on hydrological calculations became smaller, indicating that the downstream biodiversity showed a decreasing trend; (3) the diversion ratio and the confluence ratio of Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River decreased at the same time, and the connectivity decreased, which would lead to an increase in the degree and frequency of droughts during the dry season;(4) after the regulation of the TGD, the low-risk months were transformed into medium-risk months of the Dongting Lake basin, indicating a deterioration of the ecological situation in this region. …”
