“… لا يخفى على أحد ما وقع فيه بعض الصالحين المغفلين من روايتهم الأحاديث الضعيفة والموضوعة، والتي لاقت قبولا واستحساناً عند عوام الناس، فانتشرت على إثرها مفاسد كثيرة في الدين، سواء كانت في الأمور الاعتقادية الغيبية، أو في الأمور التشريعية، وأدت إلى زرع العداوة والبغضاء والخصومة بين الناس، والاجتراء على الله بالمعاصي، وترك بعض العبادات المشروعة، والتمسك بالبدع والمعتقدات الباطلة، ونظراً لخطورة هذا الأمر، كان إجراء هذا البحث عن هؤلاء الرواة، وبيان أقوال العلماء فيهم وفي مروياتهم وقد توصلت فيه إلى الآتي : أولاً: إن صفة مقبول الرواية هي أن يكون مسلماً عدلاً ضابطاً لما يرويه، سالماً من أسباب   الفسق وخوارم المروءة، متيقظاً غير مغفل، حافظاً إن حدث من حفظه، ضابطاً لكتابه إن   حدَّث منه، وأما المردود فهو المغفل كثير الخطأ، والمجهول، والموصوف بالنكارة، والمبتدع   الداعي إلى بدعته، والمتهم بالكذب، والكذاب في حديث رسول الله ثانياً: عدد الرواة الصالحين المغفلين الذين شملتهم الدراسة (١٧) راوياً، وهم على أربع   مراتب: منهم من اختلف في تجريحه وتعديله، وعددهم (٢)، ومنهم من ضعف في   الحديث وعددهم (٤)، ومنهم من وصف بالترك، وعددهم (٥)، ومنهم من و صف   بالوضع في الحديث وعددهم (٦). …”
