Perpetua, Tushabe Nature of Communication ,Teachers’ Performance ,Secondary Schools A Dissertation Submitted to the Directorate of Postgraduate Training in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Award of a Master of arts in Education Management of Kabale University The study investigated the nature of communication and teachers’ performance in secondary schools in Kajani-Kashenyi Town Council, Buhweju District. For the methodology, the study used the Cross-sectional Survey design and the findings indicated that regulative communication created an understanding between administration and members of academic staff, emphasized rules and regulations within the school system and made communication to specific aspects easy, which had a significant effect on teachers’ performance. Then written communication provided clarity and minimized disputes, facilitated effective communication and compromised secrecy which all had significant effect on teachers’ performance. Oral communication created positive experiences among teachers, strenghtened the communication between teachers and administrations, facilitated implementaion of school policies, and encouraged peace and openness among teachers which all had an effect on teachers’ performance. Therefore, the study recommends that further research should focus on the use of proper communication channels that are essential to boosting teachers’ performance. The Government ought to organize capacity building for teachers in areas of communicationin order to boost their performance. Head teachers are recommended to adopt a teacher-friendly atmosphere so as to keep communication and teachers’ performance on track.
