| Summary: | This report presents the development of a herbal kit application that aims at improving awareness of herbal medicines and herbal products so as to reduce the increasing concentration of people on modern treatment means and neglect herbal medicines which are locally available in their environment. It consists of a mobile based application developed to run on android-based devices. This application is developed for the community usage as it provides knowledge about herbal medicines, herbal products, and herbalists. The system also consists of a web-based system typically referred to as the dashboard which is meant to be accessed via a web browser. This dashboard purpose to provide administrative privileges to administrator. These include creation management of user accounts, herbal medicines, products herbals as well as viewing statistics and reports. To understand the problem being solved, we reviewed several systems that are used to create awareness on different concepts to see if there is one that fits the topic of the study. Furthermore, we used the design science methodology in order to achieve the study objectives as well as answering the research questions. To develop the system, several programming languages and frameworks were used. These include PHP, Java, HTML XML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap and others. MySQL was used as the database management System and in this case the MySQL database was hosted on XAMPP Server. |
