description The study was about the impact of information and communication technology on students‟ academic performance in selected secondary schools: A case study Of Ishaka Division Ishaka Municipality, Bushenyi District‟‟. It was guided by objectives namely; to find out the roles of ICT in influencing the academic performance of students, to find out students' perceptions and attitudes towards the use of ICT in secondary schools, and to suggest challenges facing schools in the adaptation of ICT in Ishaka Division Bushenyi District. The study was conducted through a cross-sectional survey design; data was collected during the month of June 2024 using questionnaires, and interview techniques from a sample of 158 respondents out of a parent population of 254. The study established that ICT is important in the delivery of learning content that ICT is used to deliver to students especially those who have adapted to improved technology in executing their studies either using projects or computers in class. From the table respondents revealed that not all students have equal access to ICT tools, leading to disparities in learning opportunities. From the questionnaires, respondents gave their opinions that students may get distracted by non-educational content and social media, reducing the effectiveness of ICT in learning. Some respondents mentioned inadequate funding, which is the most challenging issue because most schools have no money to purchase enough computers to cater to the increasing number of students in the school. The study concluded that the integration of ICT in secondary schools in the Bushenyi District plays a crucial role in enhancing academic performance, fostering engagement, and preparing students for future challenges. Students generally hold positive attitudes towards ICT, recognizing its potential to enrich their learning experience and develop valuable skills. However, significant challenges remain in fully realizing the benefits of ICT, particularly concerning infrastructure, economic barriers, teacher training, and maintenance. The study recommends that it is worthy to note that successful use of ICT as a stimulant to secondary school education depends to a large extent, on the supportive policy of the three tiers of government. Therefore, the following recommendations are made to promote and improve the development of ICT education in public secondary schools. The level of literacy in ICT should be enhanced by creating awareness through the media and by developing a positive attitude towards the application of ICT in secondary schools.
