Summary:This quantitative study aimed to examine the effect of trade openness on economic growth in Uganda, while controlling Inflation, exchange rates and trade openness over 1986-2022. The study employed a quantitative approach with Descriptive Correlational Design to analyze secondary time series data generated from the world Development Indicators to test the relationship between government expenditure, export earnings and Trade openness on Economic Growth. The study results from the correlation, Regression and the Cointegration analysis found out existence of significant relationship between government expenditure and Economic growth over 1986-2022, there was a significant relationship between Export earnings and Economic Growth over 1986- 2022 and that there was a significant relationship between Trade Openness and Economic Growth over 1986-2022. In regard to the main objective, the study concluded that Trade Openness had a significant positive effect on Economic Growth hence necessitating the control of the level of Trade Openness in the Country so as to ensure Economic Growth. Finally, this study recommends that further research can investigate the effect of Taxation on GDP growth for the Case of Uganda over various time periods.
