Summary:The study was conducted on the impact of divorce on girl child education in the Nyakinama sub-county Kisoro district. The objectives were; to identify the causes of divorce and how they affect girl child education in Nyakinama sub-county Kisoro district, to examine the consequences of divorce on girl child education in Nyakinama sub-county Kisoro district, and to suggest possible solutions to the consequences of divorce on girl child education in Nyakinama sub-county Kisoro district. The study was conducted using cross-sectional survey designs. A sample of 50 respondents was used to gather the required information and both purposeful sampling and simple random methods were employed in selecting the sample size. Questionnaires were administered to the respondents to gather the required data. They concluded that divorce and girl child education is attributed to several socioeconomic factors among which they include; Poverty encompasses income and non-income dimensions of deprivations, Poor parents are often unable to meet school costs such as uniforms, exercise books and other contributions for school equipment’s and buildings, Lack of adequate sanitation and good hygiene at school, Teachers, Headteachers and other people who manage the school always have negative attitudes towards girl’s education. Other factors that lead to divorce and girl child education can be implemented by Parental involvement, Examining the environment, Government concern, Parent’s personal educational backgrounds and economic background, Education to girls, Government awareness programs for girl child education, and Financial support for girl child education. The recommendations of the study were The government needs to strengthen its institutions especially those involved in tracking and investigating cases related to child abuse in order for them to always bring to book all perpetrators of child abuse. Such institutions as the police should be well equipped with the necessary skills required to handle such offenses. The findings indicated that there should be the establishment of income-generating projects to reduce poverty level which is the highest cause of family divorce. The community developers of Nyakinama sub-county should come up vigorously to sensitize the public on the effects of divorce on girl child education. The community must be sensitized on their role in the education of children and the government should also train and recruit a substantial number of counselors who will carry out the counseling of the affected families to avoid the negative impacts brought by divorce.
