Summary: | The research focused on investigating how investment and saving impact households in Kitumba sub-county, Kabale District. It was guided by three objectives: identifying saving and investment practices, understanding the motives behind household savings and investments, and analyzing factors influencing these practices. The study included a sample of fifty respondents, comprising the sub-county chief, cashier, and community members, selected using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected through questionnaires, observation, and interviews, then processed using Excel for analysis and presentation in tables. Results showed unanimous acknowledgment among respondents of various investment forms such as exchange-traded funds, certificates of deposit, mutual funds, retirement plans, and hybrid investments. Motives identified included retirement planning, economic development, income security, savings, precautionary measures, inheritance, employment, education, income levels, and social status. Factors influencing saving and investment decisions included financial literacy, religious beliefs, income levels, age, risk tolerance, employment type, family size, rationality in decision-making, and education levels. The study concluded that these investment forms and motivations are significant in Kitumba sub-county's households. |
