description The study focused on training and employee productivity within SACCOs in Kabale District, specifically Lyamujungu SACCO, Kabale Branch. It was guided by three objectives: assessing the impact of training on employee productivity in SACCOs, identifying the types of employee training at Lyamujungu SACCO, and exploring on-the-job training strategies for enhancing employee performance. The study involved a total sample of 50 respondents, including managers, cashiers, and clients, selected through a combination of simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Data collection methods included questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Collected data was edited, coded, entered into a computer, and analyzed using Excel, a Microsoft statistical package, with results presented in tables. Findings indicated unanimous agreement among respondents (100%) regarding the positive impacts of training on employee productivity in financial institutions, including reduced turnover and updated skills contributing to organizational success. Regarding the second objective, the study identified various forms of employee training at Lyamujungu SACCO, such as on-the-job training, demonstrations, classroom sessions, and coaching. For the third objective, on-the-job training strategies included mentoring, job shadowing, career development, and leadership training. The study highlighted the presence of diverse on-the-job training strategies within financial institutions, emphasizing their importance in enhancing employee performance and productivity.
