Description
Summary:The study focused on evaluating how medical records are managed and disposed of at Itojo Hospital. Its objectives included identifying the types of records kept, examining guidelines for retention and disposition, pinpointing challenges in managing records, and proposing solutions to these challenges. The researcher used a simple random sampling method, surveying twenty out of fifty participants in the field. Data collection tools such as interview guides, observation checklists, and content analysis were vetted for validity and reliability by the university supervisor. Findings revealed the types of medical records maintained, challenges encountered in their management, and potential solutions. Analysis indicated inefficiencies due to issues like a lack of records management strategy, insufficient skilled personnel, and inadequate funding. Recommendations included implementing a robust records management strategy, updating retention schedules regularly, and hiring qualified staff to enhance the efficiency of medical records appraisal and disposition at Itojo Hospital.
