Summary: | The research investigated electronic records management practices and their impact on academic performance in higher education, focusing on Kabale University. The objectives were to identify current electronic records management practices, evaluate administrative sub-systems, understand challenges, and propose solutions. A descriptive research design was used to collect both qualitative and quantitative data through purposive and simple random sampling techniques, with a sample size of 92 respondents. Data collection methods included interviews, questionnaires, and observations to ensure thoroughness and accuracy. The findings revealed a reliance on mass storage devices for data accumulation and a strong emphasis on security and privacy measures by the university. However, inefficiencies were noted due to limited system integration. Recommendations included improving system integration, developing e-records policies, and providing formal records management training for staff. |
