Summary:The study examined the impact of domestic violence on students' performance in selected secondary schools of the Buyanja sub-county Rukungiri district. The objectives of the study were; to assess the forms of Domestic Violence in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri, to examine the causes of Domestic Violence in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri, and to assess the effects of domestic violence on students' performance in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri. A descriptive research design was used and a sample size of 40 respondents was used for the study. Data was collected using interviews and questionnaires. The study results on the forms of Domestic Violence in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri highest number of the respondents mentioned child abuse while the least number of the respondents mentioned psychological or emotional abuse. Other respondents mentioned physical violence and sexual violence. The study results on the Causes of Domestic Violence in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri, the highest number of respondents mentioned parental stress, the lowest number of respondents mentioned failing to care adequately for the children and other respondents mentioned anger which leads to aggression, job-related problems also bring about fights between parents and not having food ready on time. The study results on the effects of domestic violence on children's welfare in Buyanja Sub-county Rukungiri. the highest number of respondents mentioned that domestic violence leads to absenteeism of students, the lowest number of respondents said of leads to depression and other respondents mentioned isolation from friends, and increased fear among the students, may lead to serious injury whereas and leads to poor academic performance. The study recommended that the government should intervene by strengthening the law on the issue of the age of marriage because young married couples are the most victims of domestic violence in today's families and school administrators should learn and know how to handle students from different families because these students face different challenges, therefore, should be handled with care to enable them to fit in others within the school.
