description | The study was about investigating the impact of sex education on moral development among pupils in Kebisoni Sub-county, Rukungiri district. The study was guided by three objectives which were: to determine the need for sex education for moral development among pupils in the Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district, to examine the challenges that affect the teaching of sex education in Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district, to suggest the possible solution to the challenges that affect the teaching of sex education in Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district.. A targeted population was sixty-six (66) respondents who were considered for the study. These included the sub-county chief, treasurer, and staff of the Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district. Both simple random and purposive sampling techniques in identifying the study sample population. The methods that were used in data collection included surveys, observations, and interviews. Data collected was edited, coded, entered into the computer, and analyzed with Excel, a Microsoft statistical package, the results were presented in tables. According to the findings, 100% of the respondents agreed that there are the impact of sex education towards moral development among pupils in the Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district and these included sexuality education is not damaging to children or adolescents, sexuality education open attitude towards sexuality among youth, provides a more robust framework for developing and measuring sex, children are aware of and recognize these relationships long before they act on their sexuality, provides adolescents with the information and skills they need to navigate relationships. The study revealed the challenges that affect the teaching of sex education in the Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district and these included: teachers are scared to teach sex education; even the best are very discouraged, lack of training as well as their lack of training affects what happens in the classroom, lack support for their work, teachers limit their lessons to "safe" topics such as anatomy and abstinence. From objective three, the possible solution to the challenges that affect the teaching of sex education in the Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district and these included communities create local advisory committees composed of parents, religious leaders, undergraduate institutions should require prospective teachers in certain dis-.:iplines, an advisory committee builds support for the program, states should also require that school districts do more to facilitate staff development, encouraging parents to become more involved in the development and implementation of sexuality education courses. |
