description The study aimed at assessing the relationship between poverty and child trafficking in Kabale Municipality. The objectives of the study were; to determine the effects of poverty in Kabale Municipality, to determine the effects of child trafficking in Kabale Municipality, and to assess the relationship between poverty and child trafficking in Kabale Municipality. The researcher used an exploratory research design. A sample size of 50 respondents was used for the study. From the study findings, the majority of respondents strongly agreed that malnutrition is seen in children of poor families, when poverty engulfs a family, the youngest are the most affected. Education is largely affected by poverty, diseases are very common in people living in poverty because they lack the resources to maintain a healthy living environment, and people living in poverty rarely have access to highly nutritious foods. The study findings also indicated that the majority of respondents strongly agreed that traffickers receive huge amounts of money from potential victims and their families, trafficked children are forced into a difficult and exploitative condition of labor, and health care is the main challenge for trafficked children, due to physical and emotional abuse, depression and symptoms of anxiety are some of the signs of the physical and psychological trauma of victims trafficked and children are trafficked for domestic servitude and commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. The study findings indicated that the majority of respondents strongly agreed that push factors are responsible for the trafficking of women especially for those who have a background characterized by poverty, children are trafficked for sexual exploitation and labor in Kabale Municipality and child trafficking is a result of lack of opportunities and structural inequalities in Kabale Municipality.
