description | The study was about the role of Faith-Based Organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention a case study of the Rwamucucu sub-county. The study was guided by objectives such as; identifying services provided by Faith-Based Organizations, establishing the impact of Faith-Based Organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, establishing the challenges faced by Faith-Based Organizations in in HIV/AIDS prevention, and establishing strategies in place to strengthen FBOs in HIV/AIDS prevention. A cross-sectional study design was used in the study across I 00 respondents from the Rwamucucu sub-county Rukiga district. The findings revealed that female respondents were highly represented in the study 56% and faith-based organizations were found to be providing welfare services which was represented by 42% of the respondents, the major challenge faced by faith-based organizations was inadequate funding was represented by 47% and the possible strategy was government support which was represented by 35% of the respondents. The study concluded that FBOs provide services like religion as it provides consolation to people with HIV, including the poor, and is part of 'their identity, the foundation of their sense of community, and the basis of their hope and FBOs influence people on conduct, ethics, and morality. Challenges faced by Faith-Based Organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention they include; Social stigma, Inadequate funding, Tension, Un clear faith-based objectives, Sexual violence, and Poor communities and they can be solved by the strategies in place to strengthen FBOs in HIV/AIDS prevention as they include; Policy measures to facilitate the HIV/AIDS prevention, Government awareness, Increase in the provision of textbooks, Gender sensitivity concern, Education and Improving access and prevention of HIV/ AIDS Prevention. The study recommends that; there is a need to address the various needs and appreciate the various contributions made by faith-based organizations in the same way they do address and appreciate the needs and contributions ~he in HIV/AIDS prevention. |
