Description
Summary:This study titled "Youth in Politics and Social Service Delivery in Kasese Municipality", was guided by the following objectives; to identify the growing interest of the youth in politics and social service delivery in Kasese Municipality, to identify the impact of the youth in politics and social service delivery in Kasese Municipality, and to find out the challenges affecting the youth in politics and social service delivery in Kasese Municipality. A total sample of 100 respondents was selected. The study findings established the youth's rapid desire for politics and social service delivery and how relevant they have been in the study area. The biggest challenge was poverty as most were incapable of helping themselves in politics as most politics in the region have been commercialized. Furthermore, the standards of living and privileges associated with the older politicians have attracted participation without assessment. The study concludes that youth in politics and social service delivery with almost 80% of the population being youth was a major cause for concern and had some negative effects on society at large. Though youths constitute some members of the political setup and social service delivery in Kasese municipality their inexperience and adamant behavior in handling these affairs has left a lot to be desired. Consequently, the government puts limited emphasis on nurturing the youth on how best they handle politics and social service delivery which has rose eyebrows thus negatively affecting the community. The study recommends that the government should aid the youth in nurturing them in line to be good leaders and give the necessary career guidance in addition, put a standard age for one to compete in any political and social service position not saying 18 years but can be lifted to 25 or so. The researcher recommends that the government aid the youth in their build up and respect their ideas.
