The use of scoria aggregates could be considered as a common practice in the construction industry due to the related economic, ecologic and performance benefits. This research study highlights the characteristics of scoria rock from Kisoro as aggregates. The tests on both fine and coarse aggregates from scoria rock are presented in this report. The test results on the engineering properties of scoria revealed that the material is suitable to be used as a fine aggregate and coarse aggregate as they were found to be acceptable by ASTM standards these are particle size distribution, shape classification, fineness modulus, silt content and organic impurities. The other physical properties of the scoria such as bulk density, specific gravity and absorption indicated that samples from Kisoro gave acceptable results.
