Summary:The paper focusses on perspectives onto South East Europe, as they are represented in works of popular culture in German language such as novels and operetta. Due to the widespread reception of these works, they draw and promote a collectively shared picture of this region based on narratives that are featuring many stereotypes and prejudices. The paper presents first results from the pre-study to a project that focusses on narratives about the region of South East Europe as they are represented in works of popular culture in German language.
