Summary:The polymers have excellent electrical insulating properties, while conjugated-conducting polymers have semiconductor behavior. These polymers can become conductive due to addition or eliminating the electrons to the backbone of polymers. Polyaniline (PANI) conducting polymer has excellent electrochemical and photoelectrical properties. In addition to carbonaceous materials and metallic composites, PANI are essential in devices that rely on energy conversion and storage. PANI, carbonaceous materials, and metallic composites are crucial components of energy storage and conversion-based devices. It has also shown substantial promise in supercapacitors. The focus in this communication is on the advancement in photophysical properties of PANI, its nanocomposite thin films and PANI-based solar cell devices. There is no comprehensive information available in the literature regarding this evolving technique. In order to close the gap, this communication will primarily concentrate on the photophysical characteristics of pure and doped PANI nanocomposite thin films and how they apply to PANI based solar cells. This review article discusses the advancement in well-known physical-chemical characteristics of PANI nanocomposite thin films and relevant photovoltaic devices with their up-to-date performance progress. This study covers the logical concepts and technologies to give a sufficient overview of the state-of-the-art for the progress on PANI based solar cells.
