Description
Summary:Before he went into exile in England, José Joaquín de Mora’s attitude to Shakespere’s work was somewhat contradictory. However, his years of residence in London, besides leading him to a more flexible stance towards Romanticism, revealed English literature to him and put him in favour of the playwright. Having moved to Buenos Aires from his English exile, he published articles there that were very favourable to Shakespeare. However, one of them was not an original, but an appropiation of a French essay whose source Mora did not acknowledge. This note explains the context in which his article is set and shows the extent of his appropiation.
