description The Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2022) has introduced 4 new indicators and revised the limits of 8 existing ones, placing stricter demands on municipal water treatment facilities. While wet powdered activated carbon (PAC) dosing has been widely applied, this study takes the technical renovation project at the raw water pump house in Hefei No.6 Water Plant, in which the advanced dry PAC dosing technique was adopted to adapt to the facility’s specific conditions and characteristics, as an example to offer a brief discussion on the distinctions between wet and dry PAC dosing systems and their structures. Based on simple devices, the dry PAC dosing system offers rapid response, minimal land use, lower investment, and convenient routine maintenance. In practice, dry PAC dosing has proven effective in eliminating raw water odor.
