A new geography is gradually taking shape, partly reclaiming the old bipartite structure of the territory and reflecting, in space and landscape, the singularity of the Vietnamese path of a socialist-oriented market economy. The adoption of neo-liberal rationalities and technologies in parallel with the maintenance of a centralised political structure supported by an authoritarian and developmentalist regime is escorted by sustained growth but also by increasingly significant regional inequalities and spatial fragmentations. |
