| description | The Novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) pandemic has shown that pregnant women are at risk for infection and severe COVID- 19. Pregnant women often experience gastrointestinal symptoms both during the peak of the disease and within 90 days after recovery. This review is devoted to the study of the effect of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on the gut microbiota of pregnant women. Since many studies confirm changes in the composition of the gut microbiota in COVID-19, the dependence of the severity of the course of infection on the composition of the gut microbiota, and the persistence of the virus in the gut after recovery. The question remains whether the composition of the intestinal microbiota changes in pregnant women and newborns during COVID-19, and whether it is possible to correct the state of intestinal dysbiosis during COVID-19 with probiotics for the purpose of prevention and treatment of pregnant women and newborns. |
