Description
Summary:This paper deals with the application of a factor-based approach, the Multi Criterial Evaluation Approach, 1-D Slope stability model and the Analytical Hierarchy Process to assess the spatial distribution of slope instability in the Shivkhola Watershed of Darjiling, Himalaya. Remote Sensing and GIS tools have been incorporated to prepare the various thematic maps processed in the present study and estimate the accuracy level of each landslide susceptibility map. We utilized Erdas Imagine (9.0), Arc Map, PCI Geomatica and MATLAB Software to fulfill the basic objectives. Results revealed that Analytical Hierarchy Process and 1-D slope stability model are very much accepted approach in landslide assessment and prediction.
