Description
Summary:This article examines the question of verisimilitude in Tirant lo Blanc basing itself on the eating habits and the table manners that are described in the novel. Martorell’s book is compared to other novels of chivalry or chivalric novels of the same period, written in France and in Spain. This paper analyses the diet of the characters and the staging of the table in the novel choosing as a starting point the teachings taken from Terç by Francesc Eiximenis, Ordinacions de la casa i Cort by Pierre III of Catalonia/IV of Aragon and from recipe books written in the Catalan language in the Middle Ages.
