Description
Summary:Silica plays a crucial role in the formation of inorganic scaling. Therefore, we present a study on the effectiveness of γ-AlOOH (boehmite) as a silica removal adsorbent. Kinetic analysis reveals a combination of chemical and physical adsorption mechanisms, with the pseudo-second-order model suggesting significant chemisorption. The adsorption isotherm of silica followed Freundlich model in higher concentration region at over 50 mg/L and mesoporous effectively act on silica adsorption in tap water. This study proposes γ-AlOOH as a novel adsorbent to address issues related to silica in various industries.
