Summary:In order to analyze objects that are now more than ever polymorphous and polysemous, this text aims to clarify the theoretical positions and resources necessary to investigate the material culture of a child. This theoretical reflection concerns the categorization of objects and the way they mark our age groups, the process of understanding their materiality, by allowing for an ontological pluralism, and their performativity, by insisting on the interpretative processes to which they give rise. By inscribing itself in a pragmatic approach, the investigation of this material culture can be closely linked to the technological and semiotic dimensions of an object analysis, as they are linked to our ordinary experiences and are forever inscribed in a culture.
