description Burkina Faso is committed to improving the living conditions of its population by 2030 through Axis 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which focuses on the socio-demographic characteristics of Burkina Faso households through education, their living conditions (access to water, sanitation and housing), migration, as well as employment and training issues. For the PNDES, the persistent poor living conditions of the people of Burkina Faso can be explained by the poor access of economic operators, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to financial services. We therefore set ourselves the objective of analysing the effects of access to microcredit on multidimensional poverty in Burkina Faso. Using an ordered multinomial logit, our econometric results indicate that access to microcredit is significant and negative, synonymous with a negative effect of access to microcredit on non-monetary poverty. These results indicate that in Burkina Faso, access to microcredit can serve as a tool for reducing multidimensional poverty. One economic policy implication may be to facilitate the establishment or implementation of programmes specialising in the granting of microcredit on relatively flexible terms so as to facilitate access to credit for the poor.
