| Summary: | Short text genres have always been and still are a source of great humour and inspiration. Through an analysis of the performance entitled Andanzas y entremeses de Juan Rana (2020) by the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico and the young theatre company Ron Lalá, we want to remember a famous character from the Golden Age, the comic actor Cosme Pérez, and his unforgettable character, Juan Rana. The cheek and lightness of the comic action and the exuberance and irreverence of the word represent the key to the humorous experience, together with the bravery of the actor who, with his gestures and expressiveness, highlights the verses of the playwright. Through a selection of different interludes by important authors, such as Calderón de la Barca or Moreto among others, the audience is completely taken into a secret trial that the Inquisition celebrates against laughter and humour. Here, the defendant, and main character, describes what his life has been like through the pieces that have given him famous. A staging, a theatrical celebration, a show with humour, both modern and traditional, which reaffirms the importance of laughter in our lives and the many possibilities that classical texts offer us despite seeming so far away in time. |
