Description
Summary:This paper reviews the modeling methods of the explicit and implicit parts of historical building components, including forward modeling and reverse modeling, with a focus on sorting out the rapid modeling methods for special-shaped components and similar components of historical buildings. Our review identifies that there is currently no way to reduce the manual workload of similar building component models and the storage memory of model databases. We integrated a set of parametric-normalized modeling methods suitable for wood structural members of historical buildings from critical reviews. The proposed approach combines reverse modeling of point cloud data modeling, forward modeling of digital radiographic images, parametric modeling, and normalized modeling and takes advantage of each method, which is helpful for rapidly modeling similar components of complex building components and reducing the storage space of the component model database.
