Description
Summary:Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare, progressive neurovascular condition characterized by stenosis of the internal carotid arteries (ICAs), leading to ischemic strokes, cerebral hemorrhages, and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). This article discusses the full mouth rehabilitation of a 6-year-old girl with unilateral MMD and early childhood caries. Diagnostic findings revealed extensive caries in primary molars and incisors, poor oral hygiene, and high caries risk, complicated by the patient's neurovascular condition. Radiographic evaluation confirmed pulp involvement in multiple teeth; hence, endodontic treatments were performed, followed by full-coverage restorations. Behavioral challenges during dental visits were addressed using nonpharmacological techniques, such as desensitization and modeling. Follow-up evaluations showed successful restoration of oral health, with improved functionality and no postoperative complications. This report provides valuable insights for dental professionals on stroke prevention, teamwork with medical teams, and managing oral health in complex medical cases.
