| description | This article is a product of a research associated with the constitution of the Manuel del Socorro Rodríguez Special Collection in the National Library of Colombia. It tracks the donations of books, newspapers, and manuscripts made by the Cuban mestizo Manuel del Socorro Rodríguez de la Victoria to the Royal Public Library of Santafé de Bogotá.The identification, characterization, and recovery of the apparitions and disappearances of an American 18th century personal library are documented. It also presents the virtual reconstruction of the personal library of a subaltern subject, characterizing the knowledge represented by it in the context of the colonial Enlightenment. Conceptual and methodological elements are proposed for the reconstruction of libraries and the creation of special collections. |
