| Summary: | The North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ) is one of the most important Neotectonic structures of Türkiye. In this study, the section of the NAFZ between Kızılırmak and Tersakan Stream was examined. The study was conducted with Geographic Information Systems and field observations. In order to numerically analyse the effect of tectonics on drainage, 8 drainage basins were analysed using the hypsometric curve-hypsometric integral (HI:0,33-0,59), mountain front sinuosity (Smf: 1,21-1,75), Valley floor width- to-height ratio (Vf:0,15-1,85), Stream length gradient index (SL:269,55-1159,25), Basin shape (Bs:1,32-5,51) and Asymmetry factor (AF:33,21-81,9). According to the Relative Tectonic Activity (IAT) classification, 3 of the 8 drainage basins (Soruk, Istavloz streams and Ovacık Creek) are in very high tectonic activity class, 2 (Ulu Stream and Zeytin Creek) are in high tectonic activity class and 3 (Göl, Susuz streams and Çorak Creek) are in medium tectonic activity class. According to these results, it was determinted that tectonic activity was high in the drainage basins controlled by the NAFZ, and the degree of tectonic activity decreases as one moves away from the NAFZ. |
