Uniform title plays an important role also in modern online catalogues. It has been used more widely and it has been more clearly articulated since its appearance in Panizzi's rules. The uniform title enables identification, distinguishing and collocation of works. However, the difference between the work and the item must be taken into consideration. We must focus our attention on bibliographic relationships and take advantage of the uniform title being a convenient linking device in the catalogue. |
