Synthesis of 1,4-Dihydropyridine Derivatives Under Aqueous Media

An environmental friendly synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives was developed by the one-pot reaction of aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonia in water under refluxing conditions.
