El objetivo del artículo es caracterizar y describir las lógicas deportivas que implica el pugilismo en jóvenes que participan activamente de la rama de boxeo de un club deportivo de la ciudad de Temuco, Chile. Para ello, se contempló la etnografía como método de investigación que permite captar las interacciones sociales en el marco de la observación del lenguaje corporal y visual de los deportistas involucrados. Dentro de los hallazgos se visualizan comportamientos que permiten enaltecer el deporte como actividad que propicia la autosuperación, la reconfiguración de los cuerpos a tenor de movimientos que se realizan a contracorriente de la naturaleza humana, el cansancio y el dolor como sensaciones ciertamente censuradas en el marco de los entrenamientos, el papel del entrenador como agente fundamental en el proceso cognitivo y las dificultades/ventajas que implica la práctica de un deporte donde el cuerpo es herramienta de ataque y defensa.

Abstract. The objective of the article is to characterize and describe the sports logics that involve pugilism in young people who actively participate in the boxing branch of a sports club in the city of Temuco, Chile. For this, ethnography is contemplated as a research method that allows capturing social interactions within the framework of observing the body and visual language of the athletes involved. Among the findings, behaviors are observed that allow sport to be extolled as an activity that promotes self-improvement, the reconfiguration of bodies according to movements that are carried out against the current of human nature, fatigue and pain as sensations that are certainly censored in the framework training, the role of the coach as a fundamental agent in the cognitive process and the difficulties/advantages involved in practicing a sport where the body is a tool of attack and defense.
