Summary:The aim of the study was to assess the signifi cance of connective tissue metabolism violations as the marker of infl ammatory and destructive processes in patients with rheumathoid arthritis (RA). 168 patients with duration of rheumatoid arthritis from 6 to 24 months were examined. Serum blood content of glycosaminoglycans (GA) and oxyproline (OP) were determined for all the subjects. It is proved that progression of infl ammatory and destructive processes in joints in patients with RA is potentiated by increased level of oxyproline and glycosaminoglycans and varies depending on duration of the disease.
