description In recent years, the study of the equine sector has been of great importance for strengthening the sector. It plays a significant role in development, contributing 4.35% of Colombia's GDP and being a main source of employment through exhibitions, fairs, horseback riding, and equine breeding and training. It also boosts the economy through business ideas that lead to the creation of new companies. Colombia currently has 143 societies whose main economic activity is horse breeding, with 1.5 million equines. The research aims to address economic aspects that allow us to understand the participation of the equine industry in the country's economy. It also aims to recognize the sector's economic growth and evolution. Finally, it aims to investigate aspects that allow us to visualize a prospective of the Colombian equine industry. The methodology applied in the research was a qualitative approach with the purpose of understanding the current phenomenon of the equine market in Colombia, presenting a descriptive scope by providing the characteristics of the topic and understanding current trends in the Colombian equine economy. As a result, it is evident that the Colombian horse is admired and sought after by the world's most demanding breeders due to its genetics and purity, creating an industry based on the labor it requires, which leads to the creation of new jobs.
