Summary:The population is ageing globally. Therefore, with an increasing population of older persons in Nigeria, there is socioeconomic inequality with extreme poverty and elder abuse coupled with non-implementation of the adopted and published National Policy on Ageing. In addition, evidence has shown the impact on Nations' workforce, healthcare, and educational system. Other challenges of ageing in Nigeria are ageism, multi-morbidities, changing family dynamics, human rights policy issue and lack of an age-friendly environment. This paper aims to review these challenges witch are diverse and inexhaustible hence, a multipronged approach must be employed to address them.
