Summary:Abstract The presented material includes a look at the problem of school truancy from the perspective of the work of a street educator. The actions taken were of social rehabilitation nature in an open environment. Material and methods The purpose of street work was to diagnose the phenomenon of school truancy. The aim was to provide an answer to the question of completeness: can the school truant phenomenon be observed in the selected area among children and adolescents, and if so, what is it characterized by? Ethnographic observation and interview were used for the needs of field work. Results The hypothesis that the phenomenon of school truant in the selected area exists and the shopping mall is a favorite place for truants to spend their youth confirmed. Conclusions The shopping mall is a favorite place to hang out for truancy students because it satisfies the basic needs of Maslow's pyramid.
