Description
Summary:Abstract Quick changes in information society are presenting numerous difficulties to librarians. They are facing these changes with limited funds and numbers of staff, as well as without expert recommendations on how to introduce novelties into library activities. This also holds for the designing of library web pages. Possible solutions to the introduction of novelties are given on the case of creating a web homepage. Changes can be managed if we consider 1. – aims of the library (web pages), 2. – starting points for reaching the planned goal, 3. – collaboration among libraries and related institutions. Based on expert knowledge about libraries and key novelties from legislative practice, the author proposes certain elements, which can be used in designing the content of library web pages that would modernize the library and offer new electronic sources to its customers (users). On this point, the author recommends collaboration between libraries since this enhances the introduction of novelties and accelerates the speed of creating web homepages as well as improves cost benefits.
