description During the reign of King Philip V (1683-1746) and Queen Elisabeth Farnese (1692-1766) the most important palaces of the Spanish crown started to be decorated with East Asian objects from China and Japan, together with high quality imitations of oriental styles produced in European workshops. Thanks to the study of a variety of pieces still preserved in Spain and new archival information, this research deepens our understanding about how East Asian objects d’art where used and displayed by the court to ornate their palaces.
