Description
Summary:The area of the Grande ABC is an industrial territory, located in the south of the São Paulo municipality, and included in its metropolitan area. Between dense urban, industrialized and natural coveted spaces, this territory faces many environmental weaknesses. In a context where climate weaknesses are being taken into account, the intermunicipal consortium of the Grande ABC released its first climate planification in 2016, which leaded to underestimate some fields like the agricultural one in terms of climate impact. By staring at the agriculture sector’s characteristics, and more precisely about land development and space protection, we aim to focus on its potentials for fighting against global warming. Thus by this study we begin to consider the agricultural sector as part of the global warming mitigation strategy. In a broader view, we aim to question the role of agriculture in a sustainable territory approach. Indeed, this sector would permit to develop a sustainable relationship with mutual benefits for both rural and urban parts of this territory.
