| Summary: | Guillain Barre syndrome (GBS) is the most common cause of acute flaccid paralysis. Its annual global incidence rate is 1–2 cases per 100000 people 3, and it can affect people of any age. Most patients report infectious diseases such as respiratory tract infections and diarrhea, including cytomegalovirus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Zika virus, and other pathogens within the 4 weeks before disease onset4. Cases of GBS secondary to SAP are extremely rare, and cases of its successful treatment have not yet been reported.A successful case of GBS induced by severe pneumonia caused by a virulent Staphylococcus aureus infection is summarized.In addition, to improve clinicians’ understanding of these diseases. During the process of diagnosis and treatment, the use of antibiotics was dynamically adjusted according to the drug sensitivity tests, and standardized cluster sepsis comprehensive treatment was administered according to the sepsis guidelines. After the onset of secondary GBS, timely multidisciplinary consultation, plasma exchange, and hormone shock therapy were performed, the initial dose is 1000mg and the hormone dosage is halved every three days,and the patient was discharged in a stable condition. Plasma exchange and hormonal shock therapy may be methods for the clinical treatment of GBS secondary to the staphylococcus aureus pneumonia. |
