| description | Fiber gratings are special optical fibers with a periodic refractive index distribution when the refractive index of the fiber core is modulated. Both the angle and period of the gratings have an influence on the sensing properties of the fiber gratings. To explore the sensor properties of different fiber gratings and their different application fields, in this paper, based on measurements of the transmission spectra, the refractive index sensing properties of the small-angle tilted fiber Bragg grating, long-period fiber grating, and large-angle tilted fiber grating have been analyzed, and the characteristics of modes and principle of sensing of the different types of fiber gratings have been analyzed. Moreover, the measurement results show that the sensitivities of the refractive index sensing of the three types of fiber gratings are 18.8 nm/RIU, 1.67 nm/RIU, and 198.67 nm/RIU, respectively, indicating that the sensing sensitivity of the large-angle fiber grating is generally higher than those of other fiber gratings. |
