description Improving the starting characteristics of diesel engines due to the development of methods of mathematical modeling of the start-up process. Currently there is a widespread lightweight (formal and semi-empirical) mathematical models of the processes in the combustion chamber. This article proposes a mathematical model to describe the processes in the cylinder of a piston internal combustion engine on the basis of the system of differential equations of mass and energy balance of the working fluid and the equation of state. Differential form better reflects the nature of the processes in the combustion chamber, as in a dynamic system that takes into account the physical properties of the working fluid (heat capacity, internal energy) depending on the current state (temperature, pressure), allows to solve conjugated problems of calculation of processes of filling and compression, heat exchange with the walls of the combustion chamber determine the leakage of charge.The method of energy balance is the equation of the first law of thermodyna-Mickey in the differential.
