Summary:Like all school disciplines, and beyond the similarities that give them this name, physical education and sport has particularities that give the teacher a particular social image within the school environment. However, this social image, often envied, rightly or wrongly, by certain players in the education system, could represent a source of vulnerability for physical education teacher, who is often cited in conflicts between teachers and students and in frequent disparaging and dishonorable decried by the educational hierarchy. If the learner is not always well instructed in the aims of physical education, some teachers and members of administration do not seem to have a real appreciation of the aims and objectives targeted by the teaching of this discipline in the Ivorian education system. A quantitative analysis and a qualitative analysis of data from a survey of students, teachers and school administrators have made it possible to understand that the conflict around the physical education and sport discipline arises from the ¨lack of appropriation¨ by the actors of the education system. The fundamental place of this discipline in the training system.
